Q. Excused Withdrawal deadline: May 20, April 17 for refunds

Answer

Students who wish to drop classes for reasons related to the pandemic must file an “Excused Withdrawal due to COVID-19” petition, available on the student portal.

Valid reasons can be anything from illness (self or family), stress caused by the virus, inability to adjust to online learning, etc. The scope is broad.

  • Students using this petition will receive an EW on their record.
  • Students who have already dropped for valid reasons and wish to receive a refund must submit the petition.
  • An EW will not be entered if the course has been dropped with no notation on the record, however a refund will be processed.

Petitions will be accepted until the end of the semester on May 20.

It may be extended after this date, but it is best to submit as soon as possible to ensure the EW.

April 17th was the date for refunds; after this date refunds will only be granted in a few cases.

Refunds will be given on a case-by-case basis after April 17.

EW grades will start getting posted Friday, 4/24.The college has begun processing Excused Withdrawals (EWs) that are a result of the COVID-19 changes to enrollment. Once the EWs are processed, students will be refunded for their enrollment fees for those courses. Students can start checking their spring grades or class schedule in Chaffey View.
